I have a narrower frame of this scene that has become a favorite in black and white. Things were developing rapidly; the sun was rising and as I was setting up, this boy wandered in front of me. Sunlight, diffused by acacia trees over my left, lit up his towel and shoes, so I started shooting, noting my truck in the background and the three people to the left. I moved to the right, hiding the vehicle and the naked guy, leaving the old man walking away and the younger boy looking as if he was running toward the camera. The subject looked at me for a second and then decided he'd had enough. While this was happening, I moved one rock closer to the subject to tighten things up andavoid scorching my feet. I got one shot, engaging the boy's eyes. While I prefer the monochrome version, the color here is fantastic and simply the result of a good exposure and waiting for (seconds of) perfect light.
