I've always enjoyed dark imagery. However, I was trying to make a crisp, clear, color image of what you see here. A nice winter landscape. However, at negative forty five below zero windchill, the Elements have a way of unravelling every inch of meticulous preparation you put into a shot. The camera was acclimatized but my breath was instantly icing the .9 ND filter and the relentless wind wrapped around my hunched shoulders and stuck more ice on the camera. I couldn't remove it no matter how hard I tried. So I tripped the shutter for a few frames and here it is - a dark, menacing, stormy landscape of Mts Liberty and Flume. Our newfound friend and trustworthy guide, Matt Keating of Badass Outdoors, said the North Country can be formidable and it will challenge the most experienced outdoorsmen. Having summited a couple fourteeners, I was skeptical. But he was right.
