The Wawel castle complex is the coronation site of Polish monarchs. The walls rise abruptly from Kraków's Stare Miasto (Old Town) and sentinel over the Wisła River to the Southwest. As I was leaving after a quick walk around the site, I noticed this door and shadows that made for a great black and white image. For me, it's not uncommon to photograph dozens of scenes and only just before departing, I find the most interesting perspective. As time allows, I always walk 360 degrees around a subject to get the best image.
